Steve began playing guitar at age 7. His father was a staff musician for the Grand Ole Opry and a classical guitar teacher. His family has traced six generations of guitar players.

  Steve’s first professional act was the Zerfas band in 1970. Their first self-titled album was release in 1973, played locally on WNAP radio, and is still considered a vinyl collector’s item still selling in Europe. A mint condition copy is currently valued at more than $5,000.

     The Zerfas band became the Jubal Band in 1974. The Jubal Band was extremely popular in the Midwest and the southeastern United States with a visual party, party dance theme that is still remembered by a hugely loyal following.     Over the years, Steve has performed with such artists as Greg Allman, B.J. Thomas, Dion Demeche, Rick Derringer, Bonnie Bramlett, and the survivors from Lynyrd Skynyrd. More recently, Stevee has played with Black Jack Jayne, The First Annual Farewell Reunion, and has performed several Indianapolis venues as a solo artist.
